A Clear View of the Universe

OK, maybe not really the entire universe, but definitely the hallway outside my apartment. I’m an introvert, so that’s practically the same thing, right? It totally counts!

I just moved here a smidge under two weeks ago, and I’ve had a surprising number of people find their way to my door. Surprising, since I don’t know anybody, wasn’t expecting anybody, and don’t live on the ground floor. Being able to see who’s on the other side of the door is rather important to me, but my peephole view was half covered with fuzzy gunk and paint splatters and smudgy over the rest with who knows what other kinds of manky nasties. I suspect a portion of that was smoker’s residue, which is sticky and difficult to completely remove.

We can’t be having that.

So there I was, alcohol dipped cotton swabs in hand, poking the peephole. It didn’t work. Typically, alcohol is more than sufficient to get the job done, but this time there was no joy. It didn’t even remove the cobwebs/dusty stuff inside.

Usually when my first cleaning solution fails, I gradually increase the strength of my cleaners until one finally works. Not this time. Ain’t nobody got time for all that! This time I went straight for the big guns, the one cleaner I have found that gets in there and reliably does exactly what it needs to do with a minimum of fuss; Greased Lightning.

A good, thorough swabbing inside and out and all my frustrations were gone! I looked through the peephole and saw stars.  OK, it was the hallway outside my apartment, but it totally counts!

Have a great day!
